The furnace features a horizontal rectangular chamber made of molybdenum disilicide, an oxide-forming material suitable for operation up to 2400°C. The chamber is heated by stacked resistance elements which are mounted in tungsten, silver or iron holders. The elements are connected to a programmable digital controller. Fast and precise regulation of chamber temperature is ensured by a modern and efficient preheating equipment. The structure of HERAEUS UT 6760 is robust and reliable. The sides of the chamber and the door are made of stainless steel or steel plates that are highly insulated to ensure an even heating of the inside of the chamber. The inside of THERMO SCIENTIFIC UT 6760 is equipped with positioning holders for samples in order to secure their stability during the experiments. The furnace can be equipped with a vacuum unit and flue gas re-circulation, which makes it suitable for inert atmosphere operations.
